Rocks Engineering Company, together with its management affiliate, Allen & Rocks, Inc., has been active in real estate development throughout the Washington, Baltimore, and Richmond corridor for more than 55 years.
Over the years, the company has evolved from a builder of single-family homes into a full-service developer and builder of multifamily residential communities, high-rise apartments, shopping centers, hotels, restaurant sites, and other commercial properties.
In recent years, the company has developed and served as either the general contractor or project manager for projects owned by its affiliated companies, including:
- The Easton Club in Easton, Maryland, an 18-hole golf course community featuring 342 single-family homes and townhomes.
- The renovation, repositioning, and sale of The Townes at Copper Springs, a 147-unit rental community in Herndon, Virginia.
- The Ivy Club, a complete renovation of a 287-unit rental community in Landover, Maryland.
- The conversion of Days Inn Dulles into a Crowne Plaza Hotel, including the addition of 135 rooms, a ballroom, and conference facilities to the existing 200-room property near Dulles International Airport.
- 8027 Leesburg Pike / 1934 Old Gallows Road, a mixed-use development featuring Nordstrom Rack, Destination XL, Rango’s Tex-Mex Grill, Neisha Thai, and 115,000 square feet of office space, with financing exceeding $42 million.

Rocks Engineering Company also relies on its affiliate, Allen & Rocks, Inc., to provide professional property management services for its multifamily, commercial office, and retail properties.
With a team of 80 employees, Allen & Rocks, Inc. currently manages approximately 2,211 residential units across Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City in Maryland, as well as Fairfax County, Virginia.
Its apartment communities have been recognized by the Maryland Multi-Housing Association and the Property Management Association of Greater Washington for excellence in apartment management and community quality. In addition, its leasing and maintenance teams have received recognition for outstanding individual performance and achievement.
